The president's Republican allies, pretending to care a great deal about decorum - an ironic point of concern given Trump's antics - have been quick to condemn Pelosi's gesture as somehow inappropriate. Two years later, though, President George H.W. Bush re-opened old wounds by remarking that he wanted America to be "a lot more like the Waltons and a lot less like the Simpsons".

The president and the Home Speaker had not spoken since a gathering in October.

The actress who voiced Lisa Simpson for the past three decades tore into Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday after the top diplomat attempted to troll House Speaker Nancy Pelosi using a Simpsons meme.

Mr Pompeo posted a tweet showing Lisa Simpson sobbing with a piece of paper in an apparent reference to Ms Pelosi, who was filmed ripping up a copy of Donald Trump's speech after his State of the Union address. Pompeo's Tweet was apparently meant to make fun of Pelosi's decision to rip up her copy of President Donald Trump's State of the Union address, after Trump's speech ended on Tuesday evening.

Pompeo can have concept his trolling was once excellent, however it wasn't lengthy prior to former Simpsons creator Invoice Oakley referred to as Pompeo out in no unsure phrases.

Thrilled and excited, Lisa prepares a speech on the greatness of American democracy. After Lisa discovers a congressman's illicit activities, she loses faith in democracy and rewrites her essay to reflect her anger, claiming, "The truth must be told". Saddened, Lisa rips off her speech titled 'The Roots of Democracy" and instead gives a rousing speech on "corruption'. Heartbroken, Lisa tears up her essay, replacing it with a new one: "Cesspool on the Potomac".

In other words, the image Pompeo saw as apt was symbolic of disillusionment in the face of corruption.

"Thank you for paying tribute to Speaker Pelosi". The meme captures Lisa when she's upset after seeing a politician accepting a bribe.

It seemed worth mentioning for context.
