The teachers had not seen the duchess since she was 14, when she visited her brother James at the school with her sister Pippa.

Despite Kate not being in a ball gown, Ms Costello says her daughter was "taken by" the visiting royal, who hugged back when Annabel reached out to embrace her.

According to the official press release, the royal couple was scheduled to meet with the rescue staff and volunteers at the city's lifeboat station and also engage in watching the crew prepare for a launch.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (aka Kate Middleton) and Prince William courageous the wind as they arrive at the RNLI lifeboat station on Mumbles Pier on Tuesday (February 4) in Swansea, Wales.

Kate was delighted to spot two familiar faces in the crowd.

The couple carried out a number of engagements, including a stop at a local lifeboat station and ice cream tasting at a seafront parlour.

The husband and wife braved the cold to share a moment with their former pupil, a top-tier alumni within her previous educational institutions. The pair then managed to greet the Duchess after the couple arrived.

William and Kate were on a visit to the Mumbles seafront in Swansea when she was reunited with Denise Evans-Allford and husband Kevin Allford, who she had not seen for nearly 25 years.

"She loved it so much", said Mrs Evans-Allford, who taught PE.

After leaving St Andrew's, Kate studied at Downe House and Marlborough College.

"She was wonderful. She hasn't changed a bit at all, you can tell".

"I hope in 10 years Annabel can look back and realise what an awesome encounter this has been", Ms Costello hoped. She said that Annabel looked cold and asked how long we'd been waiting.

"We were incredibly lucky her auto came and stopped right in front of us and she came straight over to us", Rhian revealed. "She was in such a wonderful class of girls and they got on so well together".

The royal couple stopped to speak and shake hands with numerous members of the public who had come to catch a glimpse of the pair.
