On Feb. 1, 1982, about a month after Eli Manning's first birthday, the New York Times ran a story about a confidential survey of National Football League teams on salaries.

Eli Manning retires with two Super Bowl wins, both over one of the most dominant teams of the era, the New England Patriots. Brady and Manning have built up quite the rivalry over the years and now, Brady is the last one standing with six Super Bowls to his name.

Tom Brady wished retiring Giants quarterback Eli Manning well in his retirement, but added there was something about Manning's career that he wishes was different.

"I've been around Tom". I know how competitive he is. We joke around about this a little bit.

So when Manning's National Football League retirement became official Friday, Brady offered a fitting congratulatory message. "But it's not real amusing to him", Manning said.

He was informed by New York Giants co-owner John Mara that he would be inducted into the team's ring of honor next season ... and "no Giant will ever wear No. 10 again".

Manning passed for 255 yards and two touchdowns in the first Super Bowl win over the Patriots, a game that's remembered for David Tyree's "helmet catch."
