The Punjab Education Department on Thursday announced that all schools in Lahore will be closed at 11 am on January 24, 25 (Friday and Saturday) following the Twenty20 series between Pakistan and Bangladesh starting from tomorrow, ARY News reported.

But they also want to show the security situation has improved enough for the team to start regularly hosting home internationals.

Pakistan gradually hosted various limited over series between 2015-19 before Sri Lanka played two Tests in December last year, the first in the country for ten years. "We have planned accordingly, we have talked to the players that they should give 110 per cent since the focus is to continue the number one ranking. We can hang on to that only if we win all three matches".

A poor finish in the 50-over World Cup in England, where they failed to reach the semi-finals, resulted in the sacking of Sarfaraz and head coach Mickey Arthur, to be replaced by Azam and Misbah-ul-Haq respectively.

Pakistan have also recalled the experienced duo of Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik, along with pacer Shaheen Afridi for the T20I series.

Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who is part of the Bangladesh squad traveling to Pakistan, posted a cryptic tweet before team's departure which raised a few eyebrows.

Bangladesh national cricket team led by all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad has arrived in Lahore in a chartered flight late on Wednesday to play the three-match T20 series, in the first phase of the tour.

After the toss, Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah expressed hope that his team would be able to post a decent total on a pitch where the average score is 130.

"We know Pakistan are the top team in the T20I ranking".

The tour is of significance for Pakistan, as it is another step towards efforts to ensure the world that the country is safe to host global cricket.
