Expressing excitement at the brand launch, Gagan Arora, Director-Marketing - iQOO, said, "We see extreme potential in the premium segment smartphone market in India and have deep-dived to understand the gap that the consumers face in this segment".

While announcing its entry into the Indian market, the brand also confirmed that it's working on a number of new phones which it plans to gradually launch in India through the year.

After successful launch in China, iQOO brand of Vivo is all set to debut in India in the month of February. The upcoming smartphone will be sold online and not through Vivo's sales channels.

iQOO is positioned to address the inflection point in the technology ecosystem with 5G around the corner, which will bring in the true value of connectivity. But the big takeaway is that iQOO will be an independent brand in India. And with that thought, India will be the first market outside of China, "said Arora".

"The interface will be developed for India", he insisted. "So, as a part of our strategy, the interface has to be localised to a certain extent". "It is an experience-first device", Arora told us.

When asked on what would certainly be the duty of Vivo in India's iQoo launching, Arora stated, "iQoo is an independent entity, independent brand with actually no shared resources, except the manufacturing facility". Apart from this, now according to the information received by Digit, the company may soon launch its first 5G capable phone in India which will offer high performance capabilities.

"In addition to that, it will compete in the market for the same consumer and then in terms of philosophy, which is very clear, that it is based on performance and will serve the consumer according to our philosophy", he added.

Although no exact date has been given, a February 2020 India launch for the device is expected, making it the first smartphone to be launched with a 5G ready Snapdragon 865 chipset in the country.

"For now, we are focusing on the premium segment, but if you think of a word that symbolizes iQoo, it will be performance", the executive told Gadgets 360. Speaking exclusively to us, he said that the company wants to enter the Indian market as a brand that brings best in class performance with its phones. However, Arora did not mention the name of the telecommunications companies. These are most likely to be both Airtel and also Reliance Jio that are presently evaluating their 5G growths in the nation, via. However, the local team is initially engaged in the development of strategies for the internal market.
