Biden Won't Testify in Trump Impeachment Trial

Senate Minority Whip Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) told the paper that Hunter Biden is irrelevant to the impeachment charges brought against President Trump.

Both Joe and Hunter Biden have denied any wrongdoing.

Biden had said last month he wouldn't comply with a subpoena in the Senate trial, saying any such effort would be doing on "specious" grounds, before following that up by saying he has always "cooperated with legitimate congressional oversight requests".

Sylvia Garcia (D-Texas), one of the impeachment managers who spoke Thursday in Democrats' second day of opening arguments in the Senate's trial, took apart the conspiracy theory pushed by Trump that it was Ukraine, not Russian Federation, that interfered in the 2016 election by hacking the Democratic National Committee.

The Democrat House managers apparently ignored another, perhaps more obvious reason: the media had not reported the former vice president's 2018 boast about forcing out a Ukrainian prosecutor until John Solomon reported it in The Hill in April 2019, several weeks before Biden announced that he would be running for president.

To make her point that this theory has no basis in reality, Garcia referred to the words of Trump's former Homeland Security adviser, Tom Bossert, who told ABC News a year ago this "conspiracy theory" has been "completely debunked". "THey're trying to turn it into political theater, but I want no part of that". He earned an Social Studies and Environmental Science and Public Policy from Harvard College, and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
