EA is ending support for its Tetris for iOS apps starting on April 21, 2020, the company announced today in app updates to Tetris Premium, Tetris 2011, and Tetris Blitz.

Hello Fans, We have had an wonderful journey with you so far but sadly, it is time to say goodbye.

Unfortunately, EA has announced that it will be ending support for the beloved puzzle game on April 21, 2020. Cached versions of Tetris and Tetris Blitz's listings are still available if you want a trip down memory lane, with Tetris having been renamed "Tetris 2011" at some point.

There are thousands of games on the App Store that developers abandoned years ago, but most can still be played until they stop being compatible with the latest version of iOS. We'll see what happens from here, but if you're still playing EA's mobile Tetris games, just know their days are numbered. Players are welcome to scream and shout about the decision on their online soapbox of choice. Does it plan to release a new version stuffed full of annoying ads and in-app purchases?

There's lots of uncertainty surrounding the reason.

As you might recall, in 2019, a company named N3twork signed a multi-year contract with The Tetris Company to "exclusively develop and publish new Tetris games built from the ground up for mobile". It did say, "we have had an wonderful journey with you so far but sadly, it's time to say goodbye".

If you're anything like me, Tetris has been one of your go-to time wasters since you were a child.

You read that right: the games will cease to function.
