It looks like we'll be getting another chance to go higher, further, faster with Carol Danvers!

It's reported that the sequel will be set in the present day and will be scripted by Megan McDonnell, a writer on the new Disney+ Marvel series Wandavision.

WandaVision premieres on Disney+ later this year.

The directing tandem of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directed the origin story of the first film (which co-starred Samuel L. Jackson) working off of a screenplay they wrote with Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

While you could make a Captain Marvel 2 set in the past during the character's time in deep space (that might actually be pretty cool), it probably makes more sense to set the film after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Captain Marvel was the MCU's first movie with a leading lady as the primary protagonist.

Brie Larson is set to return as Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, in the new movie and according to, Marvel is hoping to find a female director to helm the project.

Past comments from Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige show a commitment to choosing directors who can bring their own spin and unique vision to films.

The most powerful superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is officially ramping up for her big-screen encore. Danvers later becomes involved in the war between two alien races, the Kree and shape-shifting Skrulls.
