"It's unclear exactly what they're valuation is for Wells, having paid Huddersfield £5m to sign him 2017, but it would potentially be in that region given the club have a 12-month option on his contract, which is due to expire this summer".

Palmer's future at Bristol City has been the subject of speculation during this month's transfer window with Swansea credited with an interest in his signature.

Wells is now in the middle of his second consecutive season-long loan at the R's from parent club Burnley but reports suggest that Bristol have enquired about the possibility of bringing him to Ashton Gate in January.

Burnley are ready to listen to offers for Wells this month and expecting a number of them with almost all of the Championship's top 10 in the market for a striker to boost their respective promotion bids.

29-year-old Wells is enjoying his second loan spell at Loftus Road, has now featured in 71 games for the Hoops, scoring 23 goals and providing 10 assists for the Londoners across the two spells.

Wells has six month left on his current contract though Burnley also have a one-year option they can activate to help protect his value.

Wells has expressed his desire to sign for QPR on a permanent deal and it is believed the West London club are also weighing up an offer for the player.
