Pokemon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back - Evolution is coming to Netflix

Fans in the West and around the world haven't been able to see it yet.

Rather, it's a remake of 1998's cartoon film Pokemon: The First Movie, and has been titled Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back-Evolution, and follows a completely CGI style of animation. For the 20th anniversary of the Pokemon franchise in 2016 special screenings for the movie were done and I had a blast taking my 3-year-old (at the time) daughter who adored the movie. It's a mostly updated remake with only a few differences, though some of the CGI battles are pretty great. It's definitely a different flavour compared to the original, but it's also not quite what you'd expect if you've watched Detective Pikachu. The Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo was intended for use as a tool of destruction. But as it becomes aware of its dubious origin, it begins to resent its human creators and seek revenge-and Ash, Pikachu, and their friends find themselves at the centre of its rampage! It's coming to every region as well aside from Japan and Korea.

Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back-Evolution originally came out in Japan and Korea in 2019 and will be making its wider worldwide debut on Netflix on February 27.
