Real Madrid have now confirmed the first signing of the January transfer window, beating out the likes of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain for the attacker.

He was part of the side that won the Brazilian league and the Copa Libertadores last season.

Real Madrid were aided in their pursuit of Reinier by a strong pre-existing relationship with Flamengo, having bought Vinicius Junior from the Rio de Janeiro-based club in 2018.

In 14 senior appearances in Brazil's top flight, starting just eight times, Reinier has netted six goals and registered a further two assists - an impressive haul for such a young player.

A technical, creative and powerful attacking midfielder, Reinier initially attracted attention for his performances with Brazil in the 2019 South American Under-17 Championship.

Real Madrid have completed the signing of Brazilian teenager Reinier Jesus from Flamengo. Once he has completed his global duties, he is expected to play for Real Madrid's B-team, Castilla, for the rest of 2019-20.

Reinier is expected to feature for Brazil's Under-23 team on Monday night as they play Colombia in a qualifying game for the Tokyo Olympics this summer.
