Koretz hopes that the resolution is an example of fraud not being tolerated as President Trump accused and prosperous families of the university admissions scandal.

"This is not done for the public", said Koretz. "This is outrage at how our team was cheated".

The Houston Astros are searching for a new manager and general manager after the club fired A.J. Hinch and Jeff Luhnow in the wake of an Major League Baseball report that detailed how the team used technology to steal signs during the 2017 and 2018 Major League Baseball seasons. The Astros' owner subsequently fired Hinch and Luhnow. "'We're gonna win the World Series".

The resolution, introduced by Councilmembers Gil Cedillo and Paul Koretz, comes on the heels of Major League Baseball announcing penalties against the Astros and Red Sox for illegally creating a system that decoded and communicated the opposing teams' pitching signs during their championship runs. He said the cheating likely robbed the Dodgers of a shot at the titles, but he said there's no way to know. "We have to send a message". Over the years, he said, everyone in his line of work has run into someone like this: the type of scout who sees a home run and quickly quips, "Oh, they're probably juicing".

The resolution does not call for the city to take any legal action, although some Dodgers fans have suggested going to court over the matter.

Beltran was a member of the Astros roster during the 2017 season and went 3-for-4 against Stroman during the August 2017 game. "It's about being American".

"We want it to be clear that this city spoke up for its team".
