Aston Villa have completed the £10million signing of striker Mbwana Samatta from Genk.

The news of his signing is still trending in Kenya as the famous Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) took to the social media site to celebrate the development and stealing the joy from Tanzanians as they continue to joke that the striker is Kenyan, to a point of confusing some global media sites. He has become the first Tanzanian player to ever play for a Premier League team.

"I'm really pleased we have managed to bring Mbwana to the club". They always watch the Premier League. "It will be a moment they're going to watch one of their own playing in the Premier League for Aston Villa". "It's a massive club for me".

Samatta has scored 76 goals in 191 appearances for Genk and is also the captain of his country Tanzania, for whom he has scored 18 times in 51 games.

Earlier, Villa forward Jonathan Kodjia completed a move to Qatar side Al-Gharafa for an undisclosed fee.

The 30-year-old Ivory Coast worldwide, who would have been out of contract at the end of the season, has made only nine appearances in the current campaign, with his only two goals coming against an under-strength Liverpool side in December's Carabao Cup quarter-final. It is likely that Dean Smith will want another forward added to his side in the coming days.

Agbonlahor responded to Samatta's comments about watching the former England global, and the Villa icon stated that he is excited to watch the newest Villa striker shine in his new side's fight against relegation.
