Oscar Isaac Will Star In Ex Machina Adaptation, The Great Machine

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Oscar Isaac (Star Wars franchise) will star in and produce The Great Machine. This isn't to be confused with Ex Machina, Isaac's 2014 movie with director Alex Garland.

It's a good thing the film has a different name, or Oscar Isaac's IMDb page might get pretty confusing - he starred in the 2014 Oscar victor Ex Machina (yes, there are a lot of coincidences in this sentence).

Ex Machina, the comics, featuring artwork from Harris, centered around Mitchell Hundred, a former superhero (the world's first superhero, in fact) who went by the name The Great Machine and bore the power to speak with machines.

Isaac will produce alongside his manager and producer Jason Spire. Hundred runs for New York City mayor in the aftermath of 9/11. But there are still greater threats looming on the horizon. That should make for a compelling project, especially now that Watchmen has paved the way for rich, compelling, and even bold kinds of social statements by way of superheroes.

Since superhero movies clearly aren't going anywhere anytime soon, it's good to see studios embracing superhero comics that don't take the traditional path. But it was always more of a political story than a superhero tale. Let us know in the comment section below!
