Poco Becomes Separate Entity, Standalone Website Goes Live

After much speculation related to the future of POCO brand, Xiaomi has confirmed that POCO is here to stay. The company today insisted that POCO F1, the only smartphone to be launched under the POCO brand, remains a "successful" handset. The announcement comes amidst rumors of Poco F2 being in works. In a separate press release, Xiaomi India expanded on the same and mentioned that the new standalone brand will now run independent of Xiaomi, and will have its own team and go-to-market strategy.

It is been quite a while we heard about to Poco and now there is an official word form the company that it is going to become an Independent brand now.

As of now, the Poco F1 is the only smartphone that is listed on the website. Scrolling down to the Team section, it's stated that there are eight smartphone enthusiasts in the team with "professional backgrounds ranging from products to marketing to software development".

Xiaomi is known for its low-budget and mid-budget smartphones. "Couple of us have even started companies in the past", it reads. Do note, it could also be a generic image. At the time of launch, the Poco F1 was the most affordable device in the country with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, offering up to 8GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage. The phone garnered enormous praise from across the world with both reviewers and users calling it a great value for money phone. We expect the POCO F2 will be the first device from the independent brand. The rumour mill started churning out leaks and tidbits but Xiaomi never spoke officially until now.
