John Fulkerson had 15 points and 10 rebounds and took a win 1.4 seconds before the end when Tennessee beat SC 56-55 on Saturday.

In addition to standing his ground late, Fulkerson had a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds (including eight defensive boards).

Santiago Vescovi scored 13 points and James added 10 for the Vols, who trailed 26-25 at halftime and endured multiple long scoring droughts. Tennessee (10-5, 2-1) threw a long pass that Jordan Bowden caught while staying inbounds to run out the clock. Maik Kotsar of SC had 17 and Jermaine Couisnard 15.

After coming out of halftime with a one-point lead, SC opened the second half on a 13-6 run, as Tennessee converted on just two of its first nine attempts from the field. The run put Tennessee in front, 51-44, a lead it would not relinquish for the remainder of the game despite SC threatening on multiple occasions. Each team had more sales than baskets in the first half. The Vols shot just 7-for-27 (.259) from the field during the game's opening period.

Bowden missed a 3-pointer to the next Vols ball, but the ball left SC within 10.4 seconds. SC went 7 out of 15 in the second half and 13 out of 22 for the game.

Tennessee shot 22 of 28 on free-throw attempts, including 14 of 16 in the second half. Tennessee later erased an eight-point, second-half deficit by going on a 14-2 run as SC went over six minutes without a basket.

Tennessee entered Saturday having lost three of its last four games at Thompson-Boling Arena, a stretch that followed a 31-game home winning streak. He also had one of Tennessee's season-high 11 blocked shots.

Yves Pons blocked five shots for Tennessee, which travels to Georgia Wednesday night. The game tips off at 7 p.m. ET and will be televised on ESPNU.
