After weeks of teases and leaks and rumours, Amazon's upcoming series The Lord Of The Rings has announced its main cast. So far, only one actor has their character's name confirmed, and from what we're able to deduce, it's a completely new and original character.

The regulars of the series of the series The Lord of the Rings include Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Y Daniel Weyman.

The Lord of the Rings remains a perennial favourite the world over, however. Heads of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke, Vernon Sanders, and Albert Cheng finally offered a brief update on the highly-anticipated show at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Tuesday.

Phil Twyford, New Zealand's economic development minister, described the "ambitious production" as fantastic for the country, and said it would create jobs and significant overseas investment.

It's certainly exciting news for a series that has been pretty much happening behind the scenes recently.

"HAIR HAIR HAIR - if you have natural red hair, white hair, or lots and lots of freckles", the advertisement read.

Little is known about the plot of the "Lord of the Rings" series beyond the fact it will explore new storylines preceding J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Fellowship of the Ring".

Over two years ago - all the way back in November 2017 - Amazon announced that they had made a deal with the Tolkien estate to make a television series based on the appendixes and notes (like those found in The Simarillion).

Newcomer Morfydd Clark will also feature in the series as young Galadriel, a part previously portrayed by two-time Oscar victor Cate Blanchett in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies.

What are your thoughts on the newest actors to join Amazon's Lord of the Rings series?

The company did not reveal details about the roles the actors would play or the storyline.
