Norris reveals McLaren 2020 launch date

Lando Norris takes over the McLaren YouTube channel and "accidentally" reveals that McLaren will launch their 2020 auto on February 13.

Norris walks in on a meeting of the PR and Marketing team before asking if the meeting is about the auto launch.

Norris then replied: "Oh, that's the 13th of Feb?" "Is that right? Zak told me it's on the 13th." at which point the broadcast was abruptly terminated.

When told it was about the launch of McLaren's 2020 challenger, to which he had referred just moments before entering the room upon seeing a sign on the wall about it, he made comments that were not supposed to be public quite yet about this vehicle, the MCL35. The team published the video in full, suggesting it was a pre-planned stunt.

Shortly afterwards, McLaren confirmed its launch would take place on February 13, and will be held at the McLaren factory in Woking.

So far, only Ferrari and Alpha Tauri have announced the dates.

McLaren will hope its 2020 auto, to be piloted by Norris and Carlos Sainz, can build on the success of last year's campaign which saw it finish as the best team in the midfield, a position which has become known as "best of the rest" behind Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull.
