He noted that Star Trek: Picard is "he who responds to the world of Brexit and Trump and has the impression", why hasn't the Federation changed?

Patrick Stewart has revealed that his final turn as Charles Xavier in Logan - the 2017 X-Men movie starring Hugh Jackman in the lead - was partially responsible for him considering returning as Jean-Luc Picard after 18 years in the upcoming series Star Trek: Picard.

The series will also feature the return of Brent Spiner as data, Star Trek: Voyager'S Jeri Ryan like seven out of nine, and Jonathan Frakes as Will Riker of Star Trek: the next generation.

Alex Kurtzman, who serves as the series' creator and executive producer, told fans not to worry.

Spock is expected to be very different in season three. "In fact, our last movie, Nemesis, was pretty weak". Gather a small crew for a small flagship of galaxy class or Sovereign class as the Enterprise and return to the vastness of space. It holds true to what Star Trek as a concept is about, exploration and dealing with the drama that humans face with each other and other sentient species, moving forward with a more positive vision of what the future will be like.

Star Trek: Nemesis came out 2002, and was a critical and commercial flop. He had become jaded and found himself typecast by then, which dissuaded him from even talking about Star Trek: Picard when he was first approached. Additionally, the destruction of the planet Romulus triggered a refugee crisis.

However, it seems that another event could also have influenced the Picard that we will see in the coming spin-off.

"I'm here to share that Discovery certainly is taking a more optimistic, traditional Star Trek approach in next season". Picard was seen as being "devastating" in a short news item.

The announcement regarding the untitled Picard series was made in August 2018, with the series set to arrive in the USA on streaming service CBS All Access and in Canada on cable networks Space and Z and OTT service Crave in January 2020.

Star Trek Discovery is coming back for a third season, and here is what we know.
