The Detroit Red Wings may have the worst record in the National Hockey League this season to date but they're now winners of two in a row after dumping the Montreal Canadiens by the score of 2-1 on Saturday night.

Green's power-play goal at 7:42 of the third ona shot from the point made it 2-0. Dylan Larkin stole the puck from Montreal defenseman Shea Weber behind the Canadiens net and fed a wide-open Bertuzzi in the slot. Detroit holds an early-season home win 4-2 over Montreal. He fooled Price blocker side with a one-timer from the point that went off the post and in.

Carey Price made 18 saves for the Canadiens (15-12-6), whose three-game winning streak ended. Riley Barber was in the box for slashing.

"You're going to get into a night when the puck's not going to go your way, but give them credit", Jets coach Paul Maurice said. When you play like that, you play with fire. We also took three bad penalties in the offensive zone.

The Canadiens had their chances, though, before Green's goal.

Jordan Weal fired a shot off the crossbar in the first period and Joel Armia's soft backhander hit the post in the second.

Notes: Gallagher and Danault's five-game point streaks came to an end. … Price had allowed one goal in each of his previous two starts. "Many of our opportunities came from outside". He made several key saves during the contest, losing out on the shutout with less than a minute remaining in regulation. When you don't get enough quality scoring chances, you can't bury them.

Mantha missed eight games because of a lower-body injury. Winger Andreas Athanasiou also returned after an injury after missing two games. It presented the ideal opportunity for the Canadiens to extend their winning streak and build precious momentum before hitting the road for the rest of the year.

Montreal: Canadiens play seven road games to end the calendar year, starting with Vancouver on Tuesday night.
