They are first place in the Western Conference and have the best record in the National Basketball Association at 21-3.

Anthony Davis scored his first 50-point game for the Los Angeles Lakers to power the hosts to a 142-125 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday. Davis shot 20 of 29 from the field and made all 10 of his free throws to go along with seven rebounds and six assists.

Lakers coach Frank Vogel said Davis' performance was "one for the ages" adding it was a "old-school, smash mouth way of getting 50, no threes".

Anthony Davis hit a long floater with 4:39 remaining to reach 50 points for the first time with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Davis had eight points during an 11-0 run that gave the Lakers a 73-65 lead at the half.

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are on a roll right now.

Davis had 42 points through three quarters, one more than his previous single-game best this season, 41 points in his return to New Orleans on November 27.

It was Doncic's 19th straight game recording at least 20 points, five rebounds and five assists. "When you have two players who are very selfless and want the best for the other player, it's very easy".

The Lakers outscored the Timberwolves 32-22 over the final 12 minutes.

"Let me tell you something, both teams look great, I'm personally cheering for number 32", she said.

It remains to be seen whether or not the Lakers will continue their success but based on how the season has gone so far, it seems like they have as good a chance as anyone to win the title. "All I care about is what we did tonight and how we can get better tomorrow".
