Adam Vinatieri is reportedly done for the season

Vinatieri, a veteran of 24 seasons, is considered one of the greatest kickers in the history of the NFL.

Indianapolis Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri's season is reportedly over.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Vinatieri will undergo season-ending knee surgery and will be placed on injured reserve.

The NFL's all-time leading scorer, Vinatieri nonetheless has endured a tough season that has seen him miss eight field-goal attempts and six extra-point tries. Vinatieri later addressed the reports, stating the he would remain kicking for the Colts. Vinatieri was having the worst year of his career, making just 68% of his field goals and 78.6% of his extra points. Vinatieri has also won four Super Bowls, three with the Patriots and one with the Colts, and has been named All-Pro three times.

The Colts added insurance at the kicking position last Wednesday when they claimed Chase McLaughlin, who made 2-of-3 field goals and all three of his PAT's on Sunday.

Next week, the Colts will head to New Orleans to face off against the Saints in a Monday Night Football showdown.
