OnLeaks has teamed up with 91Mobiles again to bring us detailed renders based on CAD drawings of an upcoming OnePlus device - the OnePlus 8 Lite.

The OnePlus 8 series of smartphones is expected to launch somewhere during the first half of 2020.

While the details are scarce it is odd to see OnePlus heading down the mid-range path again but with their ongoing success in India a more affordable device could bring the excellent OnePlus experience to a lot more people. One of their early devices was the OnePlus X, a mid-range device that did not set the world on fire.

OnePlus have done some wonderful things in the past few years.

With OnePlus flagships reaching proper flagship pricepoints in 2019, this is the flawless time for the company to revisit the mid-range segment. The 8 Lite could fill the gap for those customers who miss OnePlus' early days of bargain-basement prices, or just those who like OnePlus' software but can't justify the outlay for its higher-end hardware. The OnePlus 8 Lite renders a show a centrally-positioned hole-punch camera at the top, which looks similar to what Samsung did with the Galaxy Note 10. Now it appears that they are looking to release another mid-range device.

Alongside the renders, the website has shared a 360-degree video of the device. The renders show that the 8 Lite could have a hole-punch cutout on a flat display. The renders also reveal some of the more familiar OnePlus elements, such as the alert slider, the Type-C port on the bottom, and the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack. As far as the dimensions are concerned, the OnePlus 8 Lite will measure somewhere around 159.2 x 74 x 8.6mm.

On the rear, there's a huge rectangular camera module sporting dual cameras with some sensors. Since this is the Lite variant, it comes with only two cameras and a few sensors, possibly including a ToF sensor as well. This means the device probably has an AMOLED screen with an in-display fingerprint scanner.
