Resident Evil 3 remake 'to release in 2020'

It's been rumored that Capcom is now developing a remake of the 1999 PlayStation title Resident Evil 3: Nemesis with a release set for 2020. It looks like the candidate the company has in mind is another Resident Evil title.

That said, there are a lot of variables at play here, and Resident Evil 3 has a lot of unique features (random item placement, dynamic Nemesis choices) that I hope still make the cut.

YouTube channel Spawn Wave reports that Resident Evil 3 remake is in active development at Capcom, which matches what VGC has been told by a number of sources.

The multiplayer spin-off's announcement in September forced Capcom producer Matt Walker to address fan concern about the future of the franchise as a traditional single-player game. But since Project Resistance is also due out in 2020, it'll be interesting to see how Capcom handles the release schedule.

If these rumours are true, then it's likely that Capcom is leveraging the success of RE2R.

At any rate, The Game Awards 2019 is the next big gaming event that's coming up. Following the remarkable success of the Resident Evil 2 remake that dropped this January, it makes sense that Capcom would want to push out another remake as soon as possible, and they allegedly are.
