Portland Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony to make debut vs

After the petitioning of Portland star Damian Lillard found general manager Neil Olshey signing the one-time scoring champion, Anthony landed on an National Basketball Association roster once again - and Tuesday's debut for the Blazers will find him starting, too.

"It's such a long season", Lillard said after the game, via the Athletic.

Among active players with at least 200 games played, Anthony ranks fourth in career points per game, and he has the second-most career points among active players, trailing only LeBron James. The Rockets traded him to Chicago last January, but the Bulls cut him before he played a game.

The Trail Blazers will get an idea of how much Anthony still has left in the tank on Tuesday against the Pelicans. In his 16-year NBA career, Melo boasts averages of 24.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3 assists per game, with 10 All Star appearances, six All-NBA nods and a scoring title in the 2012-13 season.

Power forward was the position where the Blazers were most vulnerable, and a shoulder injury to Zach Collins amplified the void there. That's not to say the Trail Blazers should expect Anthony to return to his All-Star form this season, but given their disappointing 5-9 record, they certainly wouldn't be upset if the 35-year-old turned back the clock.
