Following his tragic announcement on the show, Van Der Beek took to Instagram sharing a heartbreaking post, stating, "Wrecked".

Van Der Beek announced the news during an episode of Dancing With The Stars. Brooke begged the judges to keep Van Der Beek.

James and Kimberley have five children: Olivia, Joshua, Annabel, Emilia, and Gwendolyn.

"My wife Kimberly went through every expectant parent's worst nightmare - we lost the baby", he said. "We lost the baby", the 42-year-old revealed in the episode. "The little soul we had expected to welcome into our family took a shortcut to whatever lies beyond", James said in the package before his second dance.

"You never know why these things happen, that's why I've been telling my kids", the "Dawson's Creek" star added. All you know is that it brings you closer together, it breaks you open, it opens your heart, it deepens your appreciation. "As many of you have said, 'There are no words.' and it's true".

When the judges chose to save Ally Brooke and Sasha Farber instead of James Van Der Beek and Emma Slater in the final moments of the November 17 episode of DWTS, Ally immediately asked host Tom Bergeron, "Can I give it to James?". But it's clear he needs to be with his wife and children during this hard time.

"Hearing the heartbeat was something we never take for granted", the "Pose" actor previously said on "DWTS". Sadly, this was not the first time the couple have had a miscarriage. It seemed likely that Van Der Beek would be saved by the judges, even if he didn't get the votes from viewers at home.

"But there needs to be zero shame around it, or around giving yourself the time and space to grieve".

It was important to share his family's story "in an effort to chip away at any senseless stigma around this experience and to encourage people who might be going through it to open themselves up to love and support from friends and family when they need it most".

James Van Der Beek was not only dealing with an terrible situation in his family, but he was also sent home by the judges.

"This is not easy".

"I'm taking that in", she continued.

I wasn't the only one feeling some kind of way after seeing James Van Der Beek eliminated, as proven by fan reactions on social media. "I felt like I really needed to just stand up and give it to James". Brooke tearfully asked before apologizing to the actor.
