The four-door Gran Coupe body shape is set to combine dynamics and elegance in a spacious, comfortable and versalite package.

The model will benefit from fifth-generation eDrive technology and BMW says the vehicle will be equipped with an electric motor that develops a maximum output of around 523 hp (390 kW / 530 PS) reaching the level of a V8 engine in the brand's current ICE lineup.

The i4 will make use of latest-generation battery cell technology set to provide it with at least 390 kW and a 0-100 km/h sprint time of just 4,0 seconds.

The i4, which should be shown in production form sometime in 2021, will use the new generation eDrive technology - the fifth in line - that should give the auto a range of more than 600 km (373 miles).

This new eDrive has been redesigned from the ground up, and all of its components (electric motor, power electronics, charging unit and high-voltage battery) are new.

A new generation of batteries will power the Model 3 competitor.

In terms of range at a single charge, Roadshow reports the estimated number measured by Europe's WLTP should be 373 miles but a slightly lower 340-350 miles figure should be expected in the United States.

When it comes time to recharge the vehicle, owners will be happy to know it supports a charging capacity of up to 150 kW.

The i4 will ride on a modular platform, which will incorporate an 80-kilowatt-hour battery pack and an electric motor with a peak output of about 530 bhp. In case of the BMW i4, the EV charges to 80 per cent in around 35 minutes or six minutes for a range of 100 kilometres.
