The Official WWE 2K Facebook Page Gets Hacked - Details

Messages posted to Facebook and Twitter consisted primarily of inflammatory and racist messages across numerous 2K Games properties, including the publisher's primary Facebook page, and pages for Borderlands and WWE 2K.

Video game industry employees having their social media accounts hacked is nothing new - only this week we reported about some Federation Internationale de Football Association staff members suffering the same fate - but I've never seen something on this scale before.

WWE 2K20 didn't get the best reception and apparently, someone took it out on their Facebook page. "Unfortunately, offensive material was posted that does not reflect the values of 2K or our partners". Besides the many AEW and Benoit posts that were made, the hackers generally just made several expletive-filled posts. 2K Games found this out the hard way last night after a number of its social media accounts were hacked in a massive security breach for the game publisher.

Here's a screenshot of 2K's WWE Facebook account as acquired by Eurogamer.

Now's as good a time as any to remind you all to enable two-factor authentication on your social media accounts. It's unclear if there was any greater motivation behind the hack than a simple act of trolling.
