Nike's Air Zoom Pulse sneakers were carefully crafted through insights taken from medical workers at Portland-based OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital, the company said.

Officially releasing on December 7, Nike Air Zoom Pulse is an athletic shoe designed for those in the medical profession.

The Nike Air Zoom Pulse shoes come in six different designs.

Nike reports that nurses walk approximately four to five miles daily, sitting for less than an hour during the course of their 12-hour shifts.

"One can think of the Air Zoom Pulse as nearly a traditional clog made athletic - all the arch and posture support of that industry favorite is augmented in the Pulse, with a smooth capacity for natural motion", the brand said in a release.

There are seven styles available, and six were designed by patients. The work is physically and mentally demanding.

In terms of hours logged on his or her feet during each day, a hospital worker's shift can often feel more like running a marathon. The shoes are created to be easy to take on and off, as well as to clean.

The Air Zoom Pulse is also fabricated to protect wearers from the "unforeseen peculiarities of life in the hospital".

Although the shoe was designed for nurses, doctors, home health providers, it can be bought and enjoyed by everybody.

Nike's latest sneaker drop pays homage to hardworking medical workers who deserve it. How can a shoe be both comfortable for long stretches of standing and versatile enough to support the hurried movements required in emergency situations?

The shoe will feature a laceless face with a protective coating for easy cleaning, an elastic strap, a durable outsole and a comfortable fit.
