LI woman busted for allegedly harassing 'harlequin' tot with skin condition

26-year-old Krista Sewell of Melville supposedly posted messages terrorizing the child, who has a severe genetic disorder that alters the skin on Facebook, Instagram and GoFundMe campaign who helping the child's parents.

Anna endured the treatments, and her mother Jennie Riley shared information about her daughter's condition on social media, hoping to raise awareness about harlequin ichthyosis.

Police say Sewell posted messages threatening two-year-old Anna Riley on Facebook, Instagram and GoFundMe over the a year ago.

Krista Sewell, 26, was charged with aggravated harassment, stalking and a felony hate crime by New York State Police on Thursday. The skin forms large, diamond-shaped plates that are separated by deep cracks (fissures), according to the U.S.

The Post reports Riley chronicles her child's life on a Facebook page titled "Hope for Anna".

The tot's daily care routine includes three hours a day in a special moisturizing bath, another hour getting her hair combed to prevent her follicles from getting clogged and more time having lotion applied all over her body, her mother told The Post in October. Sewell allegedly targeted the victim between December 2018 and November 2019 by posting messages to Facebook, Instagram and GoFundMe pages set up by the victim's family. She was still being housed in the Ulster County Jail as of Sunday, a representative for the jail told ABC News.

"This condition is very severe and I have made a choice to educate people publicly on Facebook and Instagram".

Riley reportedly wrote on Facebook Friday that she and her daughter had been harassed through graphic messages, emails and comments.

With her message, Riley said she was hoping people could "understand the importance of teaching everyone kindness and the acceptance of visible differences".

"Although I knew there was a possibility for negativity, I never expected to receive the messages that were sent to me", Riley told WNBC.

The mom added, "I want to thank the New York State police and the Ulster County Sheriff's Department for their dedication and compassion".

"I have no clue why she chose to do this", the 2-year-old teen's mom, Jennie Riley, revealed to The Publish on Sunday, alluding to 26-year-old suspect Krista Sewell of Melville.
