Are those red notification dots on your Facebook home screen driving you insane? In response to our inquiry, Facebook confirms that Shortcut Bar Settings is now rolling out to everyone, with most iOS users already equipped and the rest of Android owners getting it in the next few weeks.

Whether you like it or not, the Facebook mobile app has the tendency to grab your attention to tabs in the Shortcut Bar that you probably don't care about; such as the Marketplace, Jobs or Dating.

The move could save the sanity and improve the well-being of people who don't want their Facebook cluttered with distractions. It's a small but ultimately welcome change to the app, giving users the control they should have had all along. For most people, these dots appear in random places in which the user has little interest, resulting in either a pile-up of notifications or the brief annoyance of having to tap to make them go away. Said bar has often showcased features like Marketplace, News or TV, but as TechCrunch points out, these were often based on whatever features Facebook was recently pushing at the moment rather than what users wanted or needed.

To edit your shortcut bar settings, you can press and hold on any of the shortcuts in the navigation bar. This will provide two options - remove the tab, or disable notifications for the tab.

"It also highlights the most relevant national stories of the day". That clears space in your nav bar for a more peaceful experience.
