Helen Mirren finds it "very flattering" that people mistook Keanu Reeves's new girlfriend Alexandra Grant for her when the couple seemingly went public with their relationship just a few days ago.

"That was very flattering on me, you know, because she's obviously lovely", Mirren, 74, said of Grant, 46, speaking with ET at the New York City premiere of "The Good Liar" on Wednesday night.

"I know Keanu well", Mirren revealed.

The John Wick star - whose daughter Ava was tragically stillborn in December 1999, just a month before his girlfriend Jennifer Syme died in a vehicle accident - hadn't been publicly seen with a partner for years, before the pair were photographed enjoying dinner together at Giorgio Baldi, a luxurious Italian hot spot, in Santa Monica, California, last month.

The actress, who is married to director Taylor Hackford, spoke fondly of "adorable, lovely" Reeves, whom she knows from when he and her husband did "The Devil's Advocate" in the late 1990s. "So she's a lucky girl and I'm sure he's a lucky boy".

Keanu Reeves, imaginary boyfriend to us all, made headlines for stepping out in public with Alexandra Grant at the LACMA Art+Film Gala in Los Angeles on Monday.

"She's one of the few people who's managed to get Keanu to open up about his emotions and past", a source close to the rumoured could recently told Life&Style magazine. "He is extremely happy and grateful to have Alex in his life".

According to the outlet, the duo has been friends and collaborators for years. In 2016, they teamed up again for the book "Shadows", written by Reeves and illustrated by Grant before starting up a publishing house, X Artists' Books, in 2017.
