Coldplay Announce New Double Album with Old-Fashioned Teaser!

Coldplay began teasing a new album last week.

After a teaser campaign that took place over the past few days, Coldplay confirmed in social media posts this morning that they will release a new double album called "Everyday Life" on November 22.

Last week's report from the U.K.'s Daily Star said the band would release a new album in November that shows "the more experimental side of Coldplay", adding that a second "more mainstream pop collection" will arrive afterwards in 2020. The image featured the band and some unknown musicians in a worn black-and-white photo with the date November 22, 1919, emblazoned at the top. This past weekend, the band posted a teaser video with the same image and a snippet of ancient-sounding orchestral music that reminds me of the Beatles' "Good Night".

So there you have it: Everyday Life, Coldplay's first double-LP, is out 11/22.

The letter reveals, "one half is called 'sunrise, ' the other 'sunset, '" while also hinting that the disc could be titled Everyday Life.

Further, the year 1919 is known as the "year of the portable typewriter" because of the huge demand due to "enormous government purchases" tied to World War I. It would be a year before typewriter makers were able to catch up with the increased demand. As the world's foremost Ghost Stories apologist, I am tentatively stoked.
