Paradox Interactive and Harebrained Schemes announced the next expansion for BattleTech: Heavy Metal, coming November 21st at ParadoxCon today.

"Heavy Metal brings a greater level of diversity to Battletech by including eight new 'Mechs and a variety of devastating weapon systems that will change the way players destroy their opponents", Harebrained Schemes co-founder Mitch Gitelman said.

One Original and Seven Classic BattleMechs: Seven classic 'Mechs from BATTLETECH's 35-year legacy make their triumphant return along with the first completely new 'Mech designed exclusively for this expansion. Eight new weapons, including a 'Mech Mortar which deals splash damage to multiple units and Inferno Missiles that light up targets.

Old-time Battletech fans should also get a bang out of the new Flashpoint campaign, which will feature the Bounty Hunter and the Black Widow, two "legendary characters" from Battletech lore with some seriously bad blood between them.

In total, that's 21.

In the new cinematic trailer for BattleTech, we get our first look at the all-new 'Mech coming in the expansion: the Bull Shark. Write that down in your copybook. For now, he explains to me the Noisy Cricket scenario: "There's a cool little mech called the Flea with a gun called the Coil Beam that gets stronger and stronger the further it runs in a turn, then blows the shit out of massive mechs".

The Warhammer is joined by the Marauder in the 1.8 update, while the Bull Shark and seven other mechs from the original IP will be exclusive to Heavy Metal. Heavy Metal comes free with the BattleTech Season Pass, or on its own for 14.99 Dollars. If you're new to all this, hey, the base game has a 66% discount too.
