Indian spin legend Anil Kumble turns 49 today. Biggest match-winner for India...

Many India cricketers took to Twitter to extend birthday wishes for the spinner who has more than 600 Test wickets to his credit.

Kumble claimed 619 wickets in Tests and 337 wickets in One-day worldwide cricket. He dismissed all the Pakistani batsmen in the second innings and helped India win the match by 212 runs.

Kumble set a number of records in his career, but undoubtedly, the bowling highlight of his time as a cricketer came against Pakistan at Feroz Shah Kotla, where he became only the second cricketer in history after another spinner - Jim Laker - to take all ten wickets in an innings in February 1999. The moment you start putting importance to result, wins, trophies then it puts more pressure on the players.

Kumble was nearing his ton in Test cricket and he went into the lunch break just a few runs away from the magical 100-run mark.

"Many more happy returns of the day @anilkumble1074 Bhai".

"Greatest spinner ever played the game. biggest match-winner for india. happy Birthday @anilkumble1074 my bowling partner and guru", India spinner Harbhajan Singh tweeted.

His tally of Test wickets is, in fact, the most by an Indian bowler and third on the overall list. On this your birthday, I wish you all of the successes and dream fulfilment life has to offer. Only 51 more to go... come on.come on Anil Bhai! "Thanks for inspiring generations of cricketers".

Virender Sehwag also posted a quirky birthday wish for Kumble and tweeted: "One of India's greatest ever match winners and a terrific role model".

Veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle also greeted Kumble on his birthday and wrote on his Twitter handle, "A very happy birthday to @anilkumble1074, a player I have enjoyed watching, a giant of a person and a great Indian".

Kumble, the only Indian coach in the IPL, drew confidence from his previous IPL stints, including winning the league with Mumbai Indians as their mentor in 2013 and 2015.

Notably, in June 2016, Kumble was appointed as the head coach of the Indian men's team by BCCI for a period of one year but resigned due to "untenable" differences with captain Virat Kohli.

The IPL 202 auction takes is set to take place on December 19 and despite the presence of some world-class players in KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Mohammed Shami, David Miller and Sam Curran, Kumble is hoping his team could bring some fire-power in the middle order and death overs.
