The family had been digging near a cemetery in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh when they hit the pot and inside, the tiny baby girl was still breathing.

Sirohi told the Times of India he found the baby wrapped in a cloth and crying. "She was admitted to a private hospital after she complained of labour pain on Wednesday", Singh said. "However the bid was actually coming from all the way thru the pot", Hitesh Kumar acknowledged of his shocking discovery in the burial space in Bareilly on Thursday, based entirely on the Self sustaining, citing local experiences. "Her condition has improved", the CMO said. She was alive and crying.

Superintendent of Police (SP) City, Abhinandan Singh said: "A very inhuman incident came to light under the limits of Subhash Nagar police station in Maninath cremation ground in which a newborn girl was buried by unknown people inside an earthen pot".

Of her miracle survival, Dr Anjan stated: "She should be receiving some oxygen when buried within the grave via the pores within the soil which was presumably free because the grave should be contemporary".

"She is stable now but she still has an infection and doctors are feeding her milk every two hours", Mr Mishra added.

It showed that India's gender ratio, or the number of females per 1,000 males, was 896 in the period of 2015-17, down from 898 in 2014-16 and 900 in 2013-15.

A 2011 study in the British medical journal The Lancet found that up to 12 million girls had been aborted in the last three decades in India.

Police have launched an investigation although it is believed to be the latest case of attempted female infanticide in Uttar Pradesh.

"In many cases, the culprits are let off due to political and bureaucratic pressures".

The abortion of baby girls became more common in the 1970s when access to ultrasound technology became more widespread.

As the news of the girl being found spread, a local legislator extended help for her medical treatment.

Passers-by heard the baby's screams and pulled her from her shallow grave.
