Tri-county breweries take home medals at beer fest

MobCraft, City Lights and Third Space each earned style medals on Saturday at this year's Great American Beer Festival held October 3-5, 2019 in Denver.

The Great American Beer Festival is an annual three day event held in Denver that's hosted by the Brewers Association, a trade association made of breweries, suppliers, distributors, retailers and others interesting in the promotion of craft beer and homebrewing. Then the brewery took a gold medal in the Chocolate Beer category with "Old Balltown Bulleit Bourbon Barrel Aged Salted Caramel Dark Chocolate Brownie Milk Stout", or "OBBBBASCDCBMS", as the brewery calls it.

Third Space Brewing earned a silver medal in the Rye Beer category for Unite the Clans Scottish-Style Rye.

Rhinegeist also claimed a silver medal for English summer ale Quid, and Listermann Brewing pulled in a gold medal for Scoring Descrepancies.

"I'm shocked given the talented competition we competed with", said Lane Wanous, co-owner and head brewer of Bobbing Bobber. The awards are among the most coveted in the industry and the medals are a testament to a growing industry of excellent brewing in the Palmetto State. This year there were nearly 9,500 entries submitted from 2,000 breweries across the country. It has renewed our perseverance and commitment to making the best quality beer possible. Judging took place over the course of three days, with an worldwide panel of 322 judges from 18 countries.

Figueroa Mountain Brewing an independent craft brewery founded in 2010 by father and son team Jaime and the late Jim Dietenhofer. "The beers and talent were as impressive as ever, and we congratulate this year's winners for their achievements in brewing".
