Messi's future was back in the spotlight over the summer after it emerged the five-time Ballon d'Or victor could leave the Nou Camp at the end of the 2019-20 season should he want to.

"At that time, with the mess of the treasury, I wanted to leave, not for wanting to leave Barca but wanting to leave Spain", said Messi, whose 21-month prison sentence was changed to a £223,000 fine in July 2017. Especially because of what I feel for the club and for my family.

Messi scored his first blueprint of the season in a 4-0 thrashing of Sevilla on Sunday, after two months nefarious by calf and thigh injuries.

Messi admitted that like Ronaldo, he too had considered leaving La Liga, when in 2016, the 32-year-old and his father found themselves in a tax scandal. "The only positive was that my children were young and didn't notice it but we had a hard time". I would not like to disrupt that.

"I am very happy with the idea of staying here and everything remains the same".

Griezmann joined Barcelona from Atletico Madrid in last summer transfer window.

"You'd have to ask him but I think that's the case".

"Last year I said he was one of the best and the best are always welcome".

The Argentina worldwide has been a huge part of the success the Catalans giants have had over the last six years, but he was almost not there to contribute to it, having thought about exiting the club during what were dark times for him.

The Argentine icon has gone on to become the all-time leading scorer for Barcelona, having been at the club since he was 13, but it could have been so much different, as he confessed in a radio interview in Spain recently.

Messi added that he is not concerned about winning a record sixth Ballon d'Or, which would edge him ahead of Ronaldo.

"Griezmann is an intelligent player, of great quality, and he will end up adapting". Ronaldo had famously said "if he doesn't consider himself the best in his mind, no one else will", while Messi has mostly retracted from making any volatile statements. I have never had any problems trying to sort out things with the club.

Messi also offered his support to Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde, who has been under pressure after a bumpy start to the season followed the team's Champions League collapse against Liverpool in May.

"It was once no longer the coach's fault but it was once also no longer my decision for him to finish", Messi mentioned. "To enact success, all of us will personal to be united". The feeling I had went beyond what I felt for this club. "My legs hurt against Sevilla but it's what happens when you come back".
