It looks like the upcoming Little Mermaid live-action adaptation may have found its Sebastian!

A release date for Marshall's The Little Mermaid has not yet been announced.

Daveed Diggs is best known for starring in Lin Manuel Miranda's Hamilton.

The decision to remake The Little Mermaid and cast Daveed Riggs in one of the roles follows the massive success of films like Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent, Cinderella, The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King.

Disney's animated The Little Mermaid made over $211 million at the box office and became a bestseller on home video, popularizing songs like "Under The Sea" and "Part of Your World". To that end, she strikes a deal with villain Ursula. The film will feature beloved songs from the animated classic by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, as well as new songs by Menken (music) and Miranda (lyrics).

The screenplay was written by Jane Goldman (Stardust, Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class, Kingsman, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children) and David Magee (Finding Neverland, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, Life of Pi, Mary Poppins Returns). Based on Hans Christian Andersen's Danish fairy tale, it tells the story of a 16-year-old mermaid princess named Ariel who longs to be human.

Producers are now casting for the flick, which begins production next year, with singer/actress Halle Bailey confirmed to play mermaid princess Ariel in the film.

Former One Direction singer Harry Styles had been in talks to star opposite Halle as her love interest Prince Eric but he turned down the opportunity to focus on his solo music career.
