Girardi was at the Friendly Confines to talk to the Chicago Cubs about becoming the new manager.

Maddon's Post has also become a place for Cubs fans to leave thank you notes for the departed manager.

The Los Angeles Angels are expected to hire Joe Maddon as their manager in the next day or two, sources told Scott Miller of Bleacher Report.

Morosi added that although Maddon is the leading candidate, additional hopefuls for the skipper position are set to interview this week.

The restaurant opened in May with Maddon in the past year of his contract with the Cubs and questions about his future already in the forefront.

However the Cubs framed his firing/expiring contract, Maddon left no doubts about his energy and passion to manage again next season. The decision comes after Maddon led Chicago to a 84-78 record in 2019, marking the first time in Maddon's five years with the club that the team failed to make the postseason.

Maddon spent 31 years in the Angels' organization before joining the Tampa Bay Rays as their manager in 2006.

It was also reported earlier this week that Maddon hoped to land with the Angels, who fired former skipper Brad Ausmus on September 30.
