The Maple Leafs are 2-0-1 to start the season and with that, star centre Auston Matthews has earned himself the Third Star of the Week title with his performances during those three games. Zibanejad then posted 3-1-4 (including the winning goal) - scoring on the power play, at even strength and while shorthanded - to lift NY to a 4-1 victory over his former team, the Ottawa Senators, Oct. 5. He's the first National Hockey League player since 1995 to record eight or more points in the first two games.

Zibanejad, an Ottawa Senators first-round pick in 2011, had eight points (four goals, four assists) in a pair of wins for the Rangers.

Last night, October 7, he scored all four of the Wings' goals in a 4-3 win.

Biega, 31, appeared in 41 games for Vancouver last season, picking up two goals and 14 assists and posting an even plus-minus rating. Mantha became just the second Red Wing to score four or more goals in the team's home opener, joining John Sorrell in 1933. He only managed three points in 28 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins but mustered 13 points in 20 playoff contests with the Toledo Walleye. On Oct. 5, he recorded one goal and two assists in a 5-3 win in Nashville.

Matthews added one goal in a 4-1 victory against the Columbus Blue Jackets Friday, then two more - including the tying marker - in a 6-5 shootout loss to the Montreal Canadiens Saturday.
