The NBA's most recent dynasty pulled a page out of the history book of one of the league's most famous dynasties, as the Warriors on Monday announced the signing of free agent center Kavion Pippen, the nephew of Bulls legend Scottie Pippen.

Pippen is the nephew of NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen but despite the pedigree was lightly recruited and ended up going undrafted after his senior season.

A native of Hamburg, Arkansas, Pippen spent two seasons at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff prior to enrolling at SIU.

At 6-foot-10, 240 pounds, Pippen's size resembles Kevon Looney's, making him an ideal practice piece until Looney (hamstring) and Willie Cauley-Stein (foot) are cleared to play. He eclipsed 12 points per game in both seasons and added 5.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocks last fall.

The Golden State Warriors are so depleted by injuries at the center position that they have taken efforts to bring more bigs into practices.

Former Souther Illinois center Kavion Pippen has signed a camp contract with the Warriors.

The Warriors have four more preseason games before their regular-season slate kicks off on October 24 at the brand new Chase Center against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Pippen, the nephew of National Basketball Association great Scottie, went undrafted out of Southern Illinois.
