Report card for crushing loss at Ohio State

Michigan State may have lost last weekend to Ohio State, but that did not affect their position in the Detroit Free Press' Big Ten Power Rankings, where they were still ranked 6th overall this week.

Those things are true for many programs but not Ohio State.

It took Ohio State's offensive line until the MI week to be fully clicking in 2018.

It was a scoring bonanza in the second quarter as the Buckeyes took a 27-10 lead before the break. J.K. Dobbins rushed for 172 yards and a touchdown and is well on his way to the best season of his Ohio State career. We really don't know how solid this SMU team is yet. "But you've got to go up there first and foremost with the belief that you're going to win and that's as big as anything, and I think we'll have that". However, Florida is 6-0, so aren't they bowl eligible? They suffered 10 penalties for 85-yards in the game. "We had to get that fixed, get it going, then the offense started to roll".

This may come as a shock to some as Michigan State is still ranked above Minnesota, who is undefeated. No offense could keep up with Justin Fields, J.K. Dobbins and company.

Wisconsin is 10th in the nation in rushing at 254.0 yards per game and Taylor is obviously the top threat.

Now onto the second half.

Ohio State now sites at #3 in the AP Poll and #4 in the Coaches Poll and hasn't really been tested all year with dominating wins from the start. "I think we moved the ball really well, but we've just got to finish in the end".

While being bowl eligible is appealing, it's certainly not the end goal for Ohio State. Dotson was a four-star prospect from Cincinnati Moeller High School who was recruited some by Ohio State but ended up signing with Michigan State in 2017, the same class as Young. "It's just hard, its gritty and it was great to see the guys respond, especially in the second quarter".

Ohio State was held to just 15 yards in the first quarter but still maintained a 3-0 lead. The Buckeyes opened it up from there.

Can Penn State, Wisconsin or MI, all top twenty teams beat the mighty Buckeyes?

"We got off schedule a little bit", said Ohio State head coach Ryan Day. "That's how we feel. That's what we're focusing on this week".

The Buckeyes return from Northwestern to play No. 8 Wisconsin at home.
