Earlier Friday, sources told Fox News the intelligence community whistleblower who alleged misconduct at the White House over Trump's call to the Ukrainian president did not disclose contact with Schiff's staff to the intelligence committee inspector general (ICIG).

"Like other whistleblowers have done before and since under Republican and Democratic-controlled Committees, the whistleblower contacted the Committee for guidance on how to report possible wrongdoing within the jurisdiction of the Intelligence Community", spokesman Patrick Boland said in a statement, the news outlet reported. Mr. Schiff, California Democrat, acknowledged this week his office had been in contact with the whistleblower before the complaint was filed over President Trump's conversation with leader of Ukraine. "We want to hear all of the evidence he was able to unearth". Last week, Atkinson appeared behind closed doors with the Senate Intelligence Committee.

On Thursday, Kurt Volker, the former US envoy to Ukraine, testified on Capitol Hill, sharing a series of text messages with lawmakers detailing efforts to secure a meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President Voldymr Zelenskiy along with a commitment by the Ukrainians to conduct investigations into the 2016 election and the Bidens.

In the call, Trump asked Zelensky to probe the son of political rival Joe Biden - a move that has been alleged to be a quid pro quo to keep hundreds of millions of dollars in U.S. military aid flowing to Ukraine. "I don't think he is a credible person".

CNBC reported that a White House spokesperson declined to comment on why Trump called on China to investigate Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

"China should start an investigation into the Bidens", Trump said.

However, Benson also said the White House still has serious questions to answer about the Ukraine situation. The complaint has divided Washington and become the focal point of the impeachment inquiry into the President by House Democrats.
