Adesanya called Jones a "bully" and said he would like to share the octagon with him one day, but not until he is done making his run through the middleweight title scene and is confident in his ability to defeat Jones.

Israel Adesanya is in Melbourne, Australia, this week preparing for the biggest fight of his life.

"I can see you're starting to sip your own Kool-Aid, I know how it feels, I've been there before". I also got to see you fight KG [Kelvin Gastelum], didn't need to be in person.

Instead of heavyweights or even 205 pound human beings catching the attention of Bones Jones, it's UFC 243 fight week and Israel Adesanya is occupying The GOAT's head space. Only I was around 23. "Raiders Stadium, in Las Vegas, that's were it's going to happen".

The Trans-Tasman rivalry has been bubbling for years ever since the undefeated firebrand entered the UFC with his sights on owning the middleweight division. [Paulo Henrique] Costa, I got to take care of, and a few others. While Jones won, it was hardly in as dominant a fashion as we're used to. Adesanya later added that he believes Jones is in decline, and that he was less than impressed with the Jackson-Wink MMA standout's victory over Thiago Santos this past summer.

Adesanya isn't the only one who sees the timing as being off for Jones vs. Adesanya. "I look forward to fighting him on Sunday just because he's a good fighter, plus he wants it". "When you see someone live, you know".

In response to that, Jones wrote that he saw Adesanya fight Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 236 and Adesanya was "almost knocked out on more than one occasion".

Jones clearly caught wind of those comments and, on Wednesday, took to Twitter to fire off a series of messages to Adesanya, all of which had a contentious tone. "I'll keep convincing myself that when that day comes, I will make you my absolute (expletive)".

Jones does not yet have his next light heavyweight challenger and is unlikely to fight before the end of the year. "Let me see you in a wrestling match or a jujitsu tournament, you probably wouldn't even place".
