Barcelona claim that because Neymar joined Paris Saint-Germain under a year after signing a contract which tied him to the club until 2021, the player failed to comply with its terms.

Neymar has faced a number of legal problems and a string of disciplinary issues since his arrival in Europe in 2013.

And since transferring to PSG, things have not been any easier.

Neymar and Barcelona are yet to settle their dispute over loyalty payments after a potential agreement to avoid a trial collapsed at the last minute on Friday.

In the previous couple of months, the famous person who has an enormous social media following, discovered himself dealing with a rape allegation, which was dropped in August, and an assault cost for hitting a fan after PSG's shock defeat in April's French Cup remaining.

The bonus was agreed in the summer of 2016.

Barcelona then sued Neymar for breach of contract, and refused to pay him the 26 million euros which were part of his contract renewal bonus.

Barcelona also filed a lawsuit against the player and is demanding the return of Euro 14 million, which he received for the obligation not to leave the club during the term of the deal.

After an unsuccessful attraction to world footballing physique FIFA, the younger Brazilian shortly hit again with a lawsuit over the unpaid bonus.

Barcelona's case is that Neymar breached his contract and was not therefore entitled to the €26 million. The former Brazil captain has said the encounter was consensual. "But nobody could remain indifferent", the player said afterwards.

"Neymar did everything possible (to sign for Barcelona) because it was what he wanted", Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu said earlier this month.

The Brazilian arrived in the Catalan city on Thursday along with his father for the court date.

Worth 222 million euros ($250 million at the time), the transfer remains the highest sum ever paid for a player.

The trial will start tomorrow and Neymar will be present.

The 27-year-old maintains he is owed £10.5million in loyalty bonuses from Barcelona.

Neymar is being investigated by the Brazilian tax authorities who say he did not pay income tax on the sale of image rights while he was at Santos nor on the millions Barcelona paid him before the transfer to ensure he would not sign with another club.
