After re-signing Charlie McAvoy to a bargain three-year contract over the weekend, the Bruins announced on Tuesday morning that they have re-signed restricted free agent defender Brandon Carlo to a two-year deal that will pay him $2.85 million per season. He added two goals and two assists in 24 playoff games.

"A big, big part of our club.a really important part of what we did and accomplished last year, what we hope to accomplish this year and many, many years going forward because that will be a part of this as well", general manager Don Sweeney said of Carlo.

According to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun, Carlo will earn $2.2 million this season, while his salary will rise to $3.5 million next year. Earlier in the third period, from the blue line, Carlo dumped a bouncing puck toward the net that tricked Jordan Binnington, slipping under his blocker-side arm.

A true defensive defenseman, Carlo had two goals and eight assists in the regular season but stepped it up in the playoffs with two goals and four assists. He was tied for second on the team with a plus-22 rating while averaging 20:55 of ice time per game.

McAvoy and Carlo were the biggest question marks and to give Boston's brass credit, they did say they had the room and ability to sign both players and they did just that.
