Vidya Balan starts shooting for ‘Shakuntala Devi - Human Computer’

Vidya Balan as maths genius Shakuntala Devi in her next film. Flaunting a short bob and draped in a red saree, the actress shares an uncanny resemblance with the math wizard.

Vidya Balan took to social media to share the poster, her first look and teaser of Shakuntala Devi- Human Computer. The film brings to life the legendary and inspiring story of Shakuntala Devi popularly known as "The Human Computer". Now, fans can't wait to see her as the "Human Computer" in Shakuntala Devi biopic. "'Filming Begins", she captioned the image. She was an extraordinary woman, who lived ahead of her time and on her own terms, unapologetically.

She further added, "From Vidya to the rest of the cast and crew and my producers- Vikram and Sony Pictures Network Productions, I am so glad that all the elements have come forward".

The film is being directed by Anu Menon, who is known for films like New York, London and Paris.

Vidya Balan seems very excited about this new project, during a recent interview, Vidya Balan revealed that it is a matter of great pride for her to play such a role on the big screen. She was truly someone who embraced her individuality, had a strong feminist voice and braved many a naysayer to reach the pinnacle of success. Shakuntala's genius was first discovered at the age of 5, when she solved a math problem for 18-year-old students.

Vidya had earlier spoken about playing Shakuntala Devi in the biopic. Her mathematical skills even find a mention in the Guinness Book of World Records. Principal photography of the film has commenced today and this unique tale of the human mind and human relationships will see a worldwide release in the summer of 2020.

Apart from being a mathematician, she was also an astrologer and authored several books, including cookbooks and novels.
