In each match the Survivors work together to try and escape an insidious experiment that the Mastermind has set up. Development is a partnership between Capcom and NeoBards Entertainment - the studio behind many past Capcom ports and remasters - and will be built in the RE Engine which powered recent hits like the Resident Evil 2 remake and Devil May Cry 5.

Mastermind can track players by checking out security cameras to see where they are, while players can use their character-specific abilities to survive the hordes of undead within and gain an advantage over the nigh-unstoppable zombie flesh tanks that are hunting them down. It is now being developed for the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X, and Steam. The Mastermind plots a deadly course by wielding a strategic deck of cards to create unsafe obstacles for the Survivors, such as summoning vicious creatures, setting traps, manipulating the environment, and weaponizing security cameras. In addition, Mastermind players can even step into the trench coat of the towering, deadly Tyrant for the first time in franchise history.

Meanwhile, the Survivors have to work together to fend off the Mastermind's attacks, complete puzzles and escape the map before the timer runs out.
