"The new voiceovers will be included in a future patch".

Players looking for a more challenging experience in Fire Emblem: Three Houses can now put their skills to the test via the new Maddening difficulty setting.

The update also replaces the voice actor for Male Byleth, Chris Niosi, which Nintendo announced they would be doing after accounts of emotional and sexual abuse became public knowledge when his now ex-girlfriend came out about it in a blog post.

In addition to these new features, the game now has a Maddening difficulty mode. Niosi later issued a statement on the matter, in which he stated that he had "horribly mistreated and abused friends, colleagues and even my significant others".

A bad story in short, but the news was in the air for some time, since the same Nintendo had already replaced the actor in Fire Emblem Heroes, where his role was then entrusted to Zach Aguilar, who presumably will be contacted also in this case.

This is the most substantial update for Three Houses since it launched on July 26, following a small day one patch. The second wave of DLC in the Expansion Pass is also included in version 1.0.2 meaning players who purchased the DLC should be able to download this new pass. Note that if you clear Maddening mode without selecting New Game +, the title screen will change. The new updates incorporate several new features, with one noticeable new contribution being the replacement for male Byleth's voice actor. As for New Game +, the maximum amount of bonus Renown has risen to 50,000 points, and gives an extra 10,000 points when each path is through.

Additionally, four valuable items with stat boosts can be picked up by Byleth's bed in their Personal Quarters; each save file can receive these supplies: Sacred Galewind Shoes (Movement +1), Sacred Floral Robe (HP +7), Sacred Snowmelt Drop (Strength +3), Sacred Moonstone (Speed +3).

Five new battles are available: Battle at Lake Teutates, Battle in the Forest, Battle at Gronder Field, Battle at the Sealed Forest, and Battle at Conand Tower.

The new attire (House Loungewear) is for the protagonist and students.
